"COWBOY" Mountain Trail Challenge June 24-27, 2010

DRIVING DIRECTIONS UPDATE: for anyone coming in on US-12.
|
As of noon Monday 6/21, Washington State Department of Transportation opened up the new section of 2 lane Highway.
Traveling East on US-12 toward Walla Walla, turn right onto Spalding Rd, then left onto Vintage Loop, continue just past Three Rivers Winery turn right at Last Chance Rd. Continue 0.7 mi to Maxson-Box Stables on right side of road. Follow signs to check-in.
Traveling West on US-12 toward Walla Walla, turn left onto Spalding Rd, then left onto Vintage Loop, continue just past Three Rivers Winery turn right at left at Last Chance Rd. Continue 0.7 mi to Maxson-Box Stables on right side of road. Follow signs to check-in.

We are still accepting entries. A $10 post entry fee is required at this time. To participate in the Cowboy Mountain Trail Challenge a participant must submit an entry, with payment, by June 22nd at 4:00pm as entries will officially close at that time.

CHANGES:
|
The All-Around class will not include cattle work. In it's place a class demonstrating the horse/rider's ability to navigate themselves and a pack horse through a course.... and a few other things!

COWPOKE COURSE CLASSES – courses designed with basic to intermediate obstacles encountered on mountain trails, a working ranch, or trail competition. Professional riders/trainers (anyone that receives remuneration) may not enter classes 2-10.

COWBOY COURSE CLASSES - designed with intermediate to advanced obstacles encountered on mountain trails, a working ranch, or trail competition. These are 3-day classes whereby each entrant will have one go each day. Scores from each day will be accumulated to determine final placing.

If entered in both the non-pro and the open classes, you will need to designate (prior to the first class on the first day) which class you want to use towards all around. The same horse/rider combination has to be used for all three classes.

This is a timed & judged relay race performed in teams of 3 horses and riders. Each rider will run a separate mapped trail course as quickly as they can carrying a mail bag to a designated point where its passed between riders on the run until each rider has carried the mail bag through their assigned section of the trail course. 60% Payback |
