I spent many hours in the rugged terrain and developed horsemanship skills that are necessary for the health and well being of both human and horse! I then moved out of the mountains and onto the ranch where I got involved with show horses. This was a whole new world and totally different skills were developed for this type of riding.

I have been blessed to have owned several different breeds of horses and have competed in and judged many different disciplines, including Western Pleasure, English Pleasure, Trail, and Driving. I love the diversity of skills that can be utilized with every breed but my heart belongs to the saddlebred breed, as they are full of vim and vigor, just like my human friends. Fang is my only saddlebred at this time as I am showing Appaloosa's and have two that are currently being groomed for the show pen.

I also enjoy being a volunteer for the Mounted patrol unit of the Walla Walla County Search and Rescue team. We host regular desensitize trainings with our horses.

Health reasons forced my early retirement as a certified journeymen farrier, so currently I own/operate a boarding facility "Maxson-Box Stable" and help my father with our 140-acre farm in Walla Walla. With approximately 5 1/2 miles of trails, my friends and I spend many hours enjoying the mix of arena and trail riding. My husband Bill, a firefighter/EMT with Walla Walla County says, "I'm always on standby when the girls are out riding cause they are definitely “WILD COWGIRLS” and you never really know what they will come up with next!"
